Armstrong Horace is Chief Executive Officer and cofounder of Prosoft Technologies Limited (Prosoft) and is responsible for setting strategic vision and direction, ensuring effective operations, leading the executive team, communicating with stakeholders, and managing financial performance.
He is an experienced senior executive with strong skills in the alignment of digital technology to serve business objectives. His good combination of technical and management skills has been of great value in both industry and public sectors on strategic initiatives to deliver business advantage from Technology. He is good at handling large scale IT project issues such as monitoring & control, mixed stakeholders onboarding, communication, change management, governance structure, and benefits realization.
Armstrong was Executive Director for Technical Research & Development at Prosoft between 2001 and 2005 before he was named Chief Executive Officer in October 2005. His role as Executive Director for Technical Research & Development included exploring new ideas and creating innovative solutions to address clients problems and challenges, and advising Prosoft management board on all aspects of technology-driven market changes. Between 2003 and 2005, he provided Technical Leadership under the Oracle-Prosoft partnership for the plan and execution of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s wide-ranging Project EAGLES – a comprehensive re-engineering and restructuring program to modernize the apex bank’s operations and improve its efficiency. Between 2001 and 2003 he represented Prosoft on the wide-ranging Lagos State Global Computerization Project as Head of Core Technology for the project. Prior to that, he was at United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, from 1997 to 2000, where he held the positions of Senior Manager and Principal Manager and oversaw the Database, Sys Admin, and IT operations departments with responsibilities for IT service delivery, digital solutions deployment, support strategy, and maintenance of the bank’s Enterprise Management Centre (EMC) infrastructure.
As an independent IT Consultant between 1994 and 1997, he undertook a wide variety of assignments in which his extensive expertise of Database Systems, UNIX, Software Engineering, Data Conversion & Migration, Platform migration, and Systems Integration were made available to client organizations. Before then, from 1991 to 1993, he was at TARA Systems Limited (the then sole distributor of Oracle Software Products for West Africa) where he gained industry experience providing Oracle core technology services to various organizations in the West African sub-region across the Financials Services, Manufacturing, Distribution, Oil, Construction, Insurance, and telecommunications industry sectors. At Tara, he started as a UNIX System Administrator and later held the positions of Oracle Products Analyst, Senior DBA and then, due to his exceptional ability to adapt new competencies, rose fast through the ranks to head the Oracle Products Implementation department.
Armstrong is an advocate for cloud computing and is particularly interested in AI and cloud-based big data analytics solutions. He believes that cloud computing has come of age as the foundation for enterprise digital transformation and encourages organizations to leverage the opportunities the cloud presents for reduced cost, reduced complexity, and greater agility.
